Interview with Petra Silander

Formula One is back after the long winter break, so I think this is the right time for me to come back and give my readers a new interview! 🙂 This time you can get to know everything about the beautiful ex-model, Petra Silander, who is a successful DJ and actress nowadays. She is also the girlfriend of Ferrari’s French test driver, Jean-Eric Vergne.

Question: When and how did you and Jev meet?
Petra: We met three years ago at a party and where friends before we started to date. I remember when we talked about that night afterwards and Jev told me, ”Petra, I remember how amazing you looked in that white dress you wore that night”. That was sweet, just that the dress I wore was black. Men…

Canadian GP 2014, Jerry Andre

Question: What do you do in your free time, what are your hobbies?
Petra: In my free time I listen a lot to music, most of the time you see me with headphones on my head. I love cinema so I often go to the cinema or read scripts.
I also like to draw, create music, watch documentaries and take photos. I love to learn new things!

Joseph Degbadjo

Question: Do you like sports beside motorsport? What sports do you do?
Petra: I do like sports. I never watch TV though so when I watch sports it’s live which I really enjoy.
I just started boxing a few months ago and I love it! Right now I’m working with a trainer and with him we go through a little bit of everything. We do boxing, body building and fighting choreographies and stunts for films. Apart from this I’m also running 2-3 times a week.

Flickr

Question: I really liked your latest mix – ’A smooth start of the new year’. When did you start DJing and making mixes, and how did the idea came?
Petra: Thank you! I started DJing in 2012 at the same time I stopped modeling. I was fed up of modeling and since I went to Ibiza for the first time it has always been a dream to become a DJ so I just decided one day to go and buy myself a DJ-equipment. I practiced for five months at home before I went to the bar next to where I lived and asked if I could play there. After that I got more and more requests and that’s how it all started!

Check Petra’s mixes on her  Soundcloud!

A smooth start of the new year by Petra Silander

Camille Marotte

Question: What is your favorite music producer?
Petra: Hmm, I like almost everything that Miguel Campbell does. Joris Voorn and Adana Twins are also favorites! And to mention a girl, I really like what Nora En Pure does.

Camille Marotte

Question: You appeared in the movie ’Hunting Games’, what were your experiences during the set? Will we see you in another movie soon?
Petra: It was my first experience in an action film and it was also my first main role in a film. It was such a great experience and the team was fantastic. We became like a small family and we had so much fun!
I just finished filming a french TV-serie and this year I will star in a Sci-Fi film as a strong fighting girl. I’m so looking forward to that!

Hunting Games, Muhammed Sajid

Question: You where working as a model in the past years, you have beautiful photo shoots. What did you enjoy the most about being a model and what did you don’t like?
Petra: Thank you so much! What I enjoyed most by being a model was all the travels I got to do. I’ve travelled to so many places and met so many people from different cultures that I would probably never have got the opportunity to have met if it wasn’t thanks to the modeling. What I didn’t enjoyed about being a model was to work with only my appearance. I don’t think it’s healthy to be so aware about your physics as you get when you model for a longer time. I think that’s a big reason why so many models try out acting, in order to do a creative work but on a deeper level. To take a personage much further than what you do within modeling.

Lothar Schmid

Question: Which is your favourite F1 track and why?
Petra: I haven’t been to that many but from the ones I’ve been to I have to say Monaco. Because of the history, prestige and the nice street circuit.

Question: What do you usually do in the paddock when the cars are not on the track?
Petra: I’m always in JEVs room working on my computer, making music or reading scripts. I rarely go outside the hospitality, I’m not a big fan of the media circus so I tend to hide inside most of the time.

Jerry Andre

Question: Did you meet/talk with other F1 girlfriends already?
Petra: I have only met Minttu Virtanen and Marion Jolles Grosjean really fast.

Question: Which one was the most memorable GP/ race weekend for you since you watch F1?
Petra: I would say that Budapest 2014 was a very memorable and thrilling race. I think I bit off all my fingernails during that race! Nerve wrecking!

Petra’s instagram

Question: Which is your favorite holiday place?
Petra: I don’t have a favorite place for holidays really. I love to discover new places and I think that when I get older I will have my favorite spot that I will want to return to over and over. But for now I love to try new destinations each time.

Petra’s instagram

Question: Which is your favorite country / city?
Petra: I really love France. This country has everything; mountains for ski, city life that is great for business and entertainment, a beautiful countryside and cosast to escape to in the weekends. And oh, they have the best desserts and wine as well!
My favorite city is New York, there’s something special about the energy there.

Question: Is there a place where you haven’t been but you really want to go?
Petra: I would love to go to New Zealand and Las Vegas.

Petra’s instagram

Question: You always look so stylish at the GP weekends! Which are your favorite fashion brands?
Petra: Thank you! There are so many nice brands out there. I love to mix them all! But if I could, I would probably own a lot of Balmain clothes. I love what Balmain does.

Question: How would you describe your style with one word?
Petra: Varied and according to my mood. Yes, I know that’s more than one word. 🙂

Exclusive – Interview with Jessica Michibata

As I promised, here is the next piece in my F1Ladies interview series. An exclusive one.  Why is it exclusive? First, because it is with the one and only Jessica Michibata. I don’t have to explain this, I guess! 🙂
Second, because she said she says no to every interviews when it comes to F1.  But she considered it for me and said yes at the end. And I think it was worth to try it – I loved her answers, you’ll love them as well, I’m sure. 🙂  So I want to  thank you very much for the chance again,  Jessica.

Question:  What do you do in your free time, what are your hobbies?

Jessica: I like to spend my day off training(yoga, running, swimming, exercising at home or gym, kick-boxing,etc..) I also love watching movies, reading books, and of course having a lovely lunch or dinner with my friends is always great too. As my hobbies, I like cooking, taking pictures and reading books.

Jessica: At the moment I’m working on promoting my first movie “Shanti Days” which will be out on the 25th of Oct, I also have a new yoga DVD “Jessica Yoga in Hawai’i” coming out soon(15th Oct)  as well. There are lots of collaboration products that I have been working on as well, such as sunglasses, lucky charms, organic towels etc…

Q: You published several books. Will we see another book soon?

Jessica: I hope so! I took a break after my last one “Jessica Style”, only because publishing a book is not easy, it takes a long time of yours, and you can never finish it on a dead line! But I think I’m ready to do another one, which will probably be more like a “law of attraction” “Self help” book. I already have a strong idea in my  mind.

Q: Many people want to know, do you plan to publish a book in english?

Jessica: I would love to! But unfortunately it hasn’t happened yet.. If you know any publisher that would be interested, please let me know!

Q: How did you felt yourself on the set of your first yoga DVD, Jessica Yoga in Hawai’i?

Jessica: I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 10 years now, so it was pretty natural. Plus playing a Yoga instructor in the movie also inspired me to make my own yoga DVD.

Q: Which is your favourite F1 track and why?

Jessica: It’s hard to choose just one, so I’ll choose few 😉

Melbourne : Because it’s the first race, everybody is happy to be back, always exciting, no championship yet so it seems that all the drivers are more relaxed in Australia. And of course the city of Melbourne is great, I love going back there.

Monaco : Because this is THE F1 race. No overtaking, Slow race, Drivers hate it, it’s always hectic, Half of the people who are there have absolutely no idea about racing but still there is something about this place. When people hear about F1, first thing that come up in their mind is Monaco GP. Even for those people who know nothing about F1 racing. So in that terms, I think it’s a great race. Plus it’s very classic.

0406465.jpg
Monaco GP 2012, Sutton images

Singapore : Because it’s definitely a fun one to come. Not only to watch the race which is already exciting enough(night race, public road..) but it’s the whole of singapore turns into this festival feeling! I always tell my friends back in Japan, if they want to come to an F1 race, come to Singapore! It’s nightmare for me because even if my friends come, I don’t get to see them unless they are on the European time zone which they won’t be! So I never see the sun while I’m there which is a shame.. Waking up at 2pm and have breakfast at 3pm, lunch is at 8pm, dinner will be 2am, going to bed at 5am! But it’s great for those people who are there just for fun because they can watch the race and start drinking and going out for concert or dancing after!!!

Suzuka : This might be my favorite of all… And of course the reason is because it’s my home country, and it’s always a great atmosphere there. Suzuka is not an easy place to access so those fans out there are true F1 fans.. The fans are great there. They are so passionate and just so exciting about the race! Not to mention Suzuka is always one of the drivers favorite race, because of the history and the toughness of the circuit. There aren’t many circuits like that anymore. Good old fast track! For me, it’s also a great feeling to have my family there too. Usually my mom and my little sister come to this race!

0441693.jpg
Japanese GP 2012, Sutton images

Q: What do you do in the paddock when the cars are not on the track?

Jessica: I spend most of my time in the brand center(Hospitality), talking to people, having lunch and dinner there, and I’m always working on my computer while I’m away from Japan.

0433795.jpg
Belgian GP 2012, Sutton images

Q: With which other F1 Lady do you get on well the most?
Jessica: I like all the girls I know in F1. But I have to say I always enjoy seeing Jennifer, Vivian, Gaby and Mandy(Adrian Newey’s partner) Michelle and Fabiana are such lovely women too.

0331942.jpg

Q: Which one was the most memorable GP for you since you watch F1?

Jessica: I must say, Australian GP 2009, Monaco GP 2009, Canadian GP 2011, Japanese GP 2011(probably this one is more as it was an emotional year for us)

Interview with Jennifer Becks

Last week I was so lucky I could make an interview again, this time with the amazing Jennifer Becks, girlfriend of Adrian Sutil. You may know some things about her from her social media sites, but I hope you can get to know her a little bit more; get some informations about her life, her work in F1 and her style (which I love, and I’m sure I’m not alone 🙂 )

Question: What do you work nowadays?
Jennifer: I am working as Adrian’s assistant. For example I am taking care of his schedule and I am responsible for all the bookings (flights, hotels etc). This season I am also working on the grid.

Q: What was your work before?
J: I studied marketing/communication & PR and I have another BA in economics. I worked within the media business for a few years before Adrian and I decided to do the traveling together.

Q: What do you do in your free time when you are not on a race weekend?
J: During the season, time at home is very rare. Often there are only a few days in between our journeys. When the washing and other “housewife work” is done, I do sports (like fitness, dancing and Pilates), read a book, try to relax outside in the nature and spend time with animals. I also enjoy taking pictures, so I usually have a camera with me.

Q: What do you do in the paddock when the cars are not on the track?
J: There is always enough work for me to do. But days at the paddock can be long. When all emails etc are done, I am reading, listening to music or talking to the people I know.

Q: Which is your favourite track and why?
J: Track wise and from the drivers point of view it’s Spa and Monaco. Usually these races are unpredictable and exciting and that’s what we all want to see. From a F1 guest point of view I think Abu Dhabi is a great place to watch an F1 race. The paddock/whole area is set up very nice and many other things can be experienced (like live concerts, nice hotels, parties, beaches, sunshine – and it’s not too far away from Europe). Then there are cities/places that enjoy F1 more than others, like Budapest, Montreal, Melbourne or England. It is always wonderful to see the excitement of the fans and how much they enjoy the whole F1 happening. The atmosphere is amazing and the fans make these weekends outstanding and even more special.

Q: With which other F1 Lady do you get on well the most?
J: Chloe is great! But there are also other wonderful girls like Jessica, Gaby or Vivian who I always enjoy talking to when I see them.

Q: Which one was the most memorable GP for you since you watch F1?
J: There have been a few moments since Adrian started his career in F1 which I will never forget. For example his first race in 2007. Or his first leading laps in Melbourne in 2013 and his race in Monaco the same year (spectacular overtaking). These races brought tears in my eyes. One of the biggest upsetting moment was, when Kimi Räikkönen crashed into his Force India in Monaco in 2008.

Q: Do you like / watch other sports beside F1?
J: Well, it’s football time at the moment But in general I don’t watch any other sport beside F1.

Q: We know you like travelling and you have been many places. Which was your favourite one?
J: Vancouver Island! The nature and wildlife are amazing and I was lucky to fulfill one of my dreams – seeing whales (and plenty of other wonderful animals).

Q: Is there a place where you haven’t been but you really want to go?
J: There are a many places I have not been yet, for example Iceland, Norway, Scotland or Alaska, which are on top of my list. I am very much into nature and the beautiful scenery of our planet. Therefor I am always trying to see untouched places. Canada is definitely one of my favorite countries, the nature and wildlife over there are amazing and I would love to explore more parts of the country. Regarding cities or more typical holiday destinations I would love to visit Rome and the Maldives because I have never been there.

Q: Which is your favourite holiday place?
J: I had one of the most relaxing holidays in the carribean (Harbor Island, Bahamas) a couple of years ago. I would love to go there again one day.

Q: Which are your favourite fashion brands / Which ones do you wear the most?
J: Usually I check shops from Elisabetta Franchi, Maje, Pinko, Saint Laurent, Burberry or St Emile wherever I see them. But actually I am not focused on any special designer/brand. I buy whatever I like. What I wear or look for in a shop depends on my mood, the weather and the place I am. If I have time to do some shopping during our journeys I always try to find brands/shops which I don’t find in Europe or ones I don’t know.

Q: How would you describe your style with one word?
J: JennyStyle

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of cloth in your wardrobe?
J: No, I don’t have a favorite one. Depending on my mood I pick the piece of cloth which I feel most comfortable in.

Cannes

As the part of my holiday in South France, I went to Cannes at the end of this May. Although this was my second time there I was still amazed by this place. Palm trees, sunshine and beautiful beaches – that’s Cannes.

Of course Cannes is popular at this time of the year not only beacuse the good weather and their beaches, but because of the annual film festival. The place is full with journalists and you can see the posters of the films everywhere. If you are lucky and patient you can see some film stars, too 😀

Cannes is also a paradise for those who loves shopping! You can see the shops of the famous brands in every corner. If you are around Cannes, you have to check them -at least for window shopping 😉
